Beautifully painted 18th century Swedish marriage chest with date on the inside. Original spring lock and key. They were often decorated with the families' coats of arms or a floral motif, such as the kurbits, which is common in Swedish folk art.

This box also has a candle box within it which not all marriage chests do.
